Shaque Trust No One Review: Parineeti Chopra Thriller Gets Lost in Twists

Shaque: Trust No One follows a mother searching for the daughter who was taken from her at birth, drawing inspiration from the real-life case of Delimar Vera. The emotional premise has enough weight to sustain a gripping story, but the seven-episode series repeatedly expands its scope with twists and subplots that dilute its central mystery.

The series combines elements of thriller, family drama and mystery with kidnapping, illegal surrogacy, infidelity, witchcraft and hallucinations. Instead of strengthening the core story, the constant additions make the narrative increasingly complicated. By the middle episodes, much of the mystery becomes predictable, leaving viewers waiting for explanations rather than genuinely wondering what will happen next.

The show’s central theme of doubt is also not explored as effectively as it could have been. Although nearly every character appears to be hiding something, the protagonist is not consistently given convincing reasons to suspect those around her. Several revelations also rely heavily on convenient storytelling rather than naturally developing from the characters.

Parineeti Chopra brings flashes of vulnerability to the mother’s grief, although her consistently intense performance sometimes makes anguish and anger difficult to distinguish. Tahir Raj Bhasin, Soni Razdan, Harleen Sethi, Sumeet Vyas, Anup Soni and Jennifer Winget contribute effectively, with Winget getting an opportunity to explore contrasting shades of her character.

The Shimla setting provides attractive visuals but is underused as part of the thriller’s atmosphere. Overall, the series has an emotionally strong premise but becomes weighed down by its multiple twists and subplots, leaving its seven-episode runtime feeling longer than necessary.
