Siddhant Chaturvedi Unveils First Look as V Shantaram in New Biopic

Actor Siddhant Chaturvedi is set to play legendary filmmaker V Shantaram in an upcoming biographical drama titled V Shantaram: The Rebel of Indian Cinema. The makers unveiled the film’s first-look poster on Monday, showcasing Chaturvedi in a striking recreation of the iconic filmmaker’s persona.

The poster was shared across social media with the caption: “The Rebel Who Redefined Indian Cinema Is Back Where He Belongs — On the Big Screen.” The project marks one of Bollywood’s most ambitious biopics, focusing on Shantaram’s monumental contributions—from the silent film era to the advent of sound and colour in Indian cinema.

Chaturvedi Calls the Role a ‘Greatest Honour’

Reacting to the announcement, Siddhant Chaturvedi said the responsibility of portraying Shantaram has been deeply humbling.
“Portraying V Shantaram ji is one of the greatest honours of my life… His journey reminded me of the power of perseverance,” he said, noting the transformative impact the role has had on him.

Director Says Chaturvedi Was the Perfect Fit

Writer-director Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande said the film had been a long-standing dream, given Shantaram’s revolutionary impact on Indian filmmaking. He added that Chaturvedi embodied the qualities the team envisioned for the role.

About the Film

The biopic will chronicle Shantaram’s artistic evolution across key cinematic eras, highlighting his pioneering work and lasting influence on Indian and global cinema.

The film is presented by Rajkamal Entertainment, Camera Take Films, and Roaring Rivers Productions, and produced by Rahul Kiran Shantaram, Subhas Kale, and Sarita Ashwin Varde.
