Suryakumar Yadav Shuts Down Pakistan Reporter With Witty Remark After Asia Cup 2025 Win

India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav responded with wit and humor to a Pakistani reporter who questioned the Indian team’s behaviour towards Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2025. India defeated Pakistan for the third time in the tournament to claim the title on September 28, but off-field controversies dominated headlines as much as the on-field action.

The tension stemmed from India’s refusal to shake hands with Pakistan players after the first match and declining to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Pakistan Cricket Board chairman and Asian Cricket Council chief Mohsin Naqvi after the final. Pakistan captain Salman Agha criticized India’s behaviour, calling it a “disrespect to cricket.”

During a post-match press conference, a Pakistani reporter asked Yadav, “Today you are champions, you played a great game. But your behaviour towards the Pakistan team has been noticed — you didn’t do handshakes, didn’t take part in the photo session with the trophy, then you held a political press conference. Do you think you are the first captain in cricket history to bring politics into the game?”

Before Yadav could answer, his media advisors intervened. The Indian captain then diffused the situation with a witty remark:

"Do I have to answer or not? You’re getting angry. I couldn’t even understand your question — you asked four questions at the same time," he said, leaving the media room in splits.

Tribute to Armed Forces
Amid the post-match attention, Suryakumar also made a heartfelt gesture by dedicating all his match fees from the Asia Cup to the Indian armed forces. “I personally want to give all my match fees from this tournament (from all the games) to the Indian army,” Yadav said during the press conference, earning admiration for his patriotic commitment.

India’s emphatic win, combined with Suryakumar’s humor and gesture of goodwill, showcased the captain’s leadership both on and off the field, balancing competitive spirit with a sense of national pride.
