AIADMK Leader KA Sengottaiyan Denies Political Meetings in Chennai, Calls for Party Unity

Chennai – AIADMK senior leader KA Sengottaiyan on Thursday dismissed reports suggesting he met political figures during his visit to Chennai on September 24. The visit, he clarified, was purely personal as his wife is undergoing medical treatment.

Speaking to reporters, Sengottaiyan said, “I went to Chennai for personal reasons as my wife is under treatment. After attending to her, I returned home. I did not meet anyone over political reasons.”

In response to speculation about a possible meeting with AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran, Sengottaiyan reiterated, “I did not meet anyone. I didn’t speak to anyone politically.” He noted that while several friends had been in touch, he could not disclose their identities.

The senior leader emphasised the importance of party unity. “This organisation should become strong and everyone should unite. I strongly feel that the AIADMK should remain united to continue the legacy of our founders and ensure the realisation of Amma’s dream that the party rule lasts for one hundred years,” he said.

Since the passing of late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in 2016, AIADMK has faced internal challenges and electoral setbacks. Sengottaiyan had previously urged former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to reunite the party factions; however, Palaniswami removed him from all party posts. Other leaders, including O Panneerselvam, VK Sasikala, and TTV Dhinakaran, have also called for unity within the party.
