Bengal BJP Worker Beaten to Death While Intervening in Local Dispute

A BJP worker in West Bengal’s Nadia district was brutally beaten to death after intervening in a dispute between local youths. Sanjay Bhowmick, the victim, was attacked inside his home on Thursday night and succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

According to reports, Bhowmick witnessed several young men engaged in a confrontation while returning home. After attempting to mediate, the aggressors turned their violence towards him. Despite seeking refuge in his residence, the assailants pursued him inside and inflicted fatal injuries.

Bhowmick was rushed to Nabadwip State General Hospital but could not be saved. Authorities have sent his body for post-mortem examination to ascertain the precise cause of death.

The incident drew an immediate response from local BJP leaders, who gathered at the hospital and expressed outrage, alleging that “Trinamool Congress-backed miscreants” were responsible. The party claimed that attacks on its workers have become frequent in the region.

Bhowmick’s family also suggested a possible political motive. His sister, Swati Chakraborty, said, “He only tried to mediate the fight for humanitarian reasons and did not deserve to die.”

The police have launched an investigation into the attack, though no arrests have been made so far. Law enforcement authorities have increased patrolling in Nadia to maintain order and prevent further unrest.
