The future of Dupahiya looks promising, as director Sonam Nair has hinted that the popular Prime Video series could continue beyond Season 2. The filmmaker expressed strong optimism about returning with Seasons 3 and 4, although no official renewal has been announced.
In a recent interview, Nair reflected on the positive response to the show and explained how audience reception has changed the team's outlook. When asked whether Dupahiya could continue beyond its second season, the director responded, “We hope so,” before adding, “One hundred per cent.”
Her comments suggest that the makers are open to expanding the series, provided the opportunity to take the story forward develops.
Sonam Nair Feels More Confident After Season 1
Nair said her experience ahead of Season 2 was very different from the nervousness she felt before the show's debut. While the team had faith in the story and the fictional world of Dupahiya, they were initially uncertain about how viewers would respond.
The director recalled feeling anxious during interviews before the first season premiered. Despite enjoying the process of making the series, she said the team was eager to see whether audiences would connect with its characters and humour.
With the response to the first season offering greater confidence, Nair believes the makers now have a better understanding of what fans enjoy. That familiarity has helped them approach the second season with a clearer sense of direction while retaining the show's original appeal.
What to Expect From Dupahiya Season 2
Set in the fictional rural village of Dhadakpur, Dupahiya follows a colourful group of characters navigating everyday situations in a setting defined by small-town charm and quirky personalities.
Season 2 brings back familiar faces, including Gajraj Rao, Renuka Shahane, Sparsh Shrivastava, Bhuvan Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Yashpal Sharma. Bhojpuri actor and singer Dinesh Lal Yadav, popularly known as Nirahua, has also joined the cast.
The new season introduces fresh challenges and more complicated situations for the residents of Dhadakpur, building on the world established in the first instalment.
For now, Seasons 3 and 4 remain a possibility rather than a confirmed development. However, Nair's remarks indicate that the team is enthusiastic about continuing Dupahiya if the series' journey moves forward.
