DUSU Elections 2026: Delhi University Polls on September 18, Vote Counting on September 19

Delhi University has officially released the election schedule for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) Elections 2026, with polling set to be held on September 18 and vote counting on September 19.

The notification outlines the complete election process, including nomination deadlines, scrutiny, withdrawal of candidature, voting timings and guidelines that candidates must follow under the DUSU Constitution and the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations.

Voting timings for students

Delhi University has announced separate polling hours for day and evening students.

• Day colleges: 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM
• Evening colleges: 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM

Students will be able to cast their votes during their respective session timings.

Nomination process

Candidates contesting for DUSU office-bearer posts must submit:

• Completed nomination form
• Demand Draft of Rs 500
• Required affidavits

All nomination papers must be submitted by 3:00 PM on September 10.

The university has stated that nominations for DUSU office-bearer positions must be filed at the Office of the Chief Election Officer, Conference Centre, opposite the Botany Department, North Campus.

Nomination forms for Central Council representatives will be available through individual colleges, departments and institutions. Candidates can also download the forms from the official Delhi University website.

Elections to follow Lyngdoh Committee guidelines

Delhi University said the elections will be conducted under:

• DUSU Constitution
• DUSU Code of Conduct
• Supreme Court-approved Lyngdoh Committee recommendations
• Relevant Delhi High Court directions
• National Green Tribunal (NGT) orders

The university said all candidates must comply with the prescribed election rules throughout the campaign and polling process.
