Arul Sujanesh Annapoorna Mithai journey began under circumstances far removed from a typical entrepreneurial success story. A civil engineer by profession, Arul never initially planned to run a restaurant in Madurai. Financial setbacks and a difficult family situation eventually led him to establish Annapoorna Mithai, a pure vegetarian restaurant.

Building the business proved challenging. He faced financial losses, scams and growing debts, while his family even had to mortgage jewellery. At one stage, their home was reportedly listed for sale by the bank.

The COVID-19 pandemic added another layer of uncertainty. With restaurant operations disrupted, Arul adapted by selling essential goods door-to-door and finding ways to continue food deliveries.

Seeking a different approach, he later invested in business coaching. This helped him focus on structured systems, marketing and clearer business processes instead of relying only on day-to-day efforts.

The changes reportedly helped improve profitability, expand his team and significantly increase the restaurant’s presence on Instagram.

Arul’s journey highlights how entrepreneurs can adapt when circumstances change. His experience also underlines the importance of learning, building reliable systems and continuing to work towards long-term goals even during difficult periods.
