According to initial reports, the aircraft first transmitted transponder code 7700, the internationally recognised code for a general emergency. It later switched to code 7500, which indicates hijacking or unlawful interference, prompting heightened concern about the aircraft’s situation.
Flight changes course over Saudi Arabia
The aircraft reportedly descended to around 15,000 feet before making a sharp turn while flying over northern Saudi Arabia. It subsequently stabilised and continued toward a safe landing.
