Former Belgian footballer Lamisha Musonda, who once trained in the youth ranks of Chelsea, has shared an emotional and heartbreaking message revealing that he is fighting a critical illness and believes he may have only days left to live. The 33-year-old’s disclosure has sent shockwaves through the football community, prompting widespread messages of support and solidarity from fans and fellow players.
In a deeply personal social media post, Musonda opened up about his deteriorating health, explaining that the last two years have been particularly gruelling. He said his condition has steadily worsened, forcing him to step away from public life and social media while he focused on trying to regain his health. Acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Musonda wrote that he is now in a critical state and fighting for his life.
Reflecting on his journey, Musonda expressed gratitude for the people who have stood by him during his illness and for the memories he has collected along the way. Despite the pain and uncertainty, his message carried a tone of appreciation and courage, underlining his determination to keep fighting for as long as he can.
Musonda’s post resonated strongly across the football world. Support poured in from fans and former teammates, with many offering prayers and words of encouragement. Among those who responded publicly was Romelu Lukaku, who urged Musonda to remain strong and courageous during this difficult period. Lukaku’s message was one of many heartfelt reactions that highlighted the respect and affection Musonda continues to command within the football fraternity.
In his message, Musonda also spoke about the emotional weight of potentially not being able to personally thank everyone who has supported him. He described this as one of the most painful aspects of his current situation, noting that while he still feels he has much more to give, he is coming to terms with the uncertainty ahead. His words struck a chord, reflecting not just a personal struggle but a universal human fear of unfinished goodbyes.
Musonda’s football career began in Belgium with Anderlecht before he moved to Chelsea’s academy in 2012 alongside his brothers, Tika and Charly Musonda. Though he showed promise in the youth setup, he did not make a senior appearance for the English club and returned to Belgium after two seasons.
He later played for KV Mechelen, making his Belgian Pro League debut in 2014, before stints in Spain with Llagostera and Palamós. In 2018, he briefly featured for TP Mazembe in Africa before gradually stepping away from professional football.
As Musonda continues his battle, the football world remains united in support, with many hoping for strength, peace, and comfort for him and his family during this profoundly difficult time.
