IIM Ahmedabad Placements 2026: Record Rs 2.31 Crore Overseas Offer

IIM Ahmedabad has recorded a new high in its international placement figures, with the Maximum Earning Potential (MEP) for its flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP) reaching USD 243,000, equivalent to nearly Rs 2.31 crore.

The figure marks the highest international MEP recorded by the institute since the Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS) system was introduced in 2011. It is significantly higher than the previous international record of USD 192,581 reported in 2014.

The highest international package was offered for a business development position in the information technology sector in Dubai. The MEP calculation includes annual cash salary, one-time cash payments and the total guaranteed cash component.

The IT sector emerged as the highest-paying segment for international placements during the latest recruitment season. This marks a shift from previous years when sectors such as banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) and consulting had a stronger presence among the top-paying overseas roles.

A total of 392 students participated in the placement process, with six accepting international positions. Four of the overseas placements were in Dubai, while Hong Kong and Japan accounted for one placement each.

Business conglomerates accounted for three of the six international offers. BFSI, IT and retail companies each contributed one offer.

Domestic placements also remained strong during the 2026 recruitment season. The highest domestic MEP stood at Rs 81.6 lakh, while the median MEP increased to Rs 36.98 lakh. The median figure was the institute's highest in the last five years.

BFSI continued to be the highest-paying domestic sector for the second consecutive year. However, consulting remained the largest recruiter by volume, making 155 offers. BFSI followed with 82 offers.

IT companies and business conglomerates each made 34 offers, while consumer services firms accounted for 15 offers.

One of the notable trends in the latest placement report was the sharp increase in business development positions. The number of such offers had remained between two and five annually from 2022 to 2024, but increased substantially to 27 offers in 2026.

Overall, 182 companies participated in the placement process, with opportunities spread across around 267 roles.

Among individual recruiters, Accenture Strategy made the largest number of offers, including pre-placement offers, with 36. BCG made 33 offers, followed by FinIQ Consulting with 24 and McKinsey & Company with 21.

The placement season also saw more than 50 new companies participate in the institute's lateral and final recruitment processes.

The combination of a record international MEP, a higher median domestic earning potential and increased demand for business development professionals highlights the continued interest of global and Indian employers in IIM Ahmedabad graduates.
