The RBSE Class 10 exams will be conducted twice a year from the 2026-27 academic session, giving students another opportunity to improve their marks or meet the passing requirements within the same academic year. The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) will replace the existing supplementary examination system with the new second examination.
The first examination will be compulsory for all Class 10 students and is expected to be held in February-March 2027. Students who qualify in the first examination can then appear for the second examination, expected in May-June.
Students Can Improve Marks in Three Subjects
Students who pass the first examination will be allowed to use the second examination to improve their marks in up to three subjects.
The final result will be prepared by taking the higher marks obtained in each subject across the two examinations. For example, if a student scores 60 marks in a subject in the first examination and improves the score to 70 in the second, the final result will reflect the higher score of 70.
Students seeking improvement will have to appear in the same subjects for which they apply and will not be allowed to change subjects.
Second Exam Replaces Supplementary Examination
The second examination will also provide an opportunity for certain students who do not meet the passing criteria in the first examination.
Students scoring below the minimum qualifying mark of 33% in up to two subjects may be eligible under the Essential Improvement category. Students who are absent in one subject and score below 33% in another will also be eligible under the specified criteria.
However, students who fail in three or more subjects will not be eligible for the second examination. They will have to appear for all subjects again in the following academic year.
Internal Assessment Marks to Be Carried Forward
The second examination will follow the existing Class 10 syllabus. Students’ internal assessment and practical marks from the first examination will be carried forward.
The reform is intended to reduce the pressure of a single high-stakes board examination while giving students greater flexibility to improve their performance without waiting for another academic session.
With the new system, the Rajasthan Board will move away from the traditional supplementary exam model and provide eligible students with a second opportunity within the same academic year.
