On the cricketing front, Rohit’s wish—if related to India’s victory—did not come true, as South Africa clinched the match with a strong chase. Pursuing 359, the visitors completed the job in 49.2 overs, led by Aiden Markram’s superb century and Corbin Bosch’s late burst.
Despite the loss, Virat Kohli stood out with a magnificent 102 off 93 balls, registering his 53rd ODI hundred. Ruturaj Gaikwad also impressed with his maiden ODI century, contributing to a 195-run partnership that formed the backbone of India’s innings.
With the series now level at 1-1 after the Ranchi and Raipur games, India will head to Vizag for the decider. Team management is likely to consider strengthening the batting unit, which has delivered slightly under par totals in both matches so far.
