Abhishek Sharma Reveals Yuvraj Singh’s Advice Behind Record 108 vs Afghanistan

Abhishek Sharma credited a message from his mentor Yuvraj Singh for helping him find the right balance during his explosive run against Afghanistan. After the second T20I, Yuvraj advised the India opener not to force every delivery and to take singles when the conditions did not offer scoring opportunities.

Abhishek followed the advice in the series decider in New Delhi, smashing 108 from just 34 balls as India completed a 3-0 series sweep with a 127-run victory. He reached his century in only 30 deliveries, breaking Rohit Sharma’s record for the fastest T20I hundred by an Indian. The innings included nine fours and 11 sixes.

The knock capped a remarkable series for Abhishek, who had scored 82 off 32 balls in the opening match and 39 in the second. His 229 runs made him the leading run-scorer of the series and marked his third T20I century.

The performances also came after a difficult stretch in which he had gone seven innings without a fifty, including four single-digit scores. He was competing with Sanju Samson and 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for a place at the top of India’s T20I order.

Abhishek’s aggressive approach remained central to his batting, but his innings in Delhi showed an added willingness to rotate the strike. He also attacked Afghanistan’s spinners, including Rashid Khan, before completing his century against Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
