Lionel Messi Leads Inter Miami to Campeones Cup Win, Trophy Tally Hits 49

Lionel Messi guided Inter Miami to the 2026 Campeones Cup with a 2-0 victory over Cruz Azul, scoring his 100th goal for the club and providing an assist. The win gave Miami their fourth trophy since the Argentine joined the club in 2023.

Messi opened the scoring in the 24th minute after connecting with Luis Suarez’s cross and heading the ball past the goalkeeper. The goal came in his 115th appearance for Inter Miami and marked a major individual milestone.

The Argentine then turned provider in the 81st minute. His corner found Casemiro, who headed the ball into the net to seal the victory.

The Campeones Cup is contested between the reigning MLS Cup champions and the Liga MX Campeón de Campeones winners. Inter Miami’s triumph adds to the Leagues Cup won in 2023, the Supporters’ Shield in 2024 and the MLS Cup in 2025.

Messi’s latest trophy takes his career silverware tally to 49, according to the figures cited in the report. Dani Alves follows with 43, while Marquinhos has 42 and Andres Iniesta 40.

Inter Miami currently sit second in the Eastern Conference with 45 points, nine behind leaders Nashville SC. The Campeones Cup victory adds another title to Messi’s increasingly successful spell in South Florida.
