DUSU Election 2026: Voting Underway for Four Key Posts

Voting for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2026 is underway on September 18, with 20 candidates contesting the four central posts of president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary. Counting is scheduled for September 19.

Day-college students can vote from 8:30 am to 1 pm, while evening-college students have a voting window from 3 pm to 7:30 pm. The contest includes panels from ABVP and NSUI, while AISA and SFI are contesting together. Other candidates are also in the fray for the four posts.

Key campaign issues include hostel shortages, rising PG rents, student housing safety, women’s safety, Metro concessions, placements, infrastructure and newer concerns around AI and learning. A recent PG building collapse in Satya Niketan, which killed seven people, including five students, has also brought accommodation and safety into sharper focus.

Security has been strengthened across polling centres, with police and paramilitary personnel deployed and traffic restrictions imposed on several university roads. The Delhi High Court has also sought reports from the university, police and Delhi government over alleged campaign violence, warning that it could halt counting and the declaration of results if it is not satisfied with the measures taken.
