Spirit: Producer Pranay Reddy Vanga Challenges Critics Ahead of Prabhas-Triptii Film

Producer Pranay Reddy Vanga has challenged film critics to try to bring down Spirit with their reviews once the Prabhas and Triptii Dimri-starrer reaches theatres. His comments came amid mixed reactions to his recent production Romanchakam and continued discussion around the upcoming film's cast.

Pranay, who is the brother of Spirit director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, was speaking about the challenges involved in producing a film when he addressed criticism of Romanchakam. The movie, which released on September 3, received mixed reviews.

He argued that understanding the difficulties of filmmaking requires being involved in production and pointed to the challenges directors face while translating a written script onto the screen. He then challenged critics to see whether they could similarly damage Spirit when it is released.

Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The upcoming film is expected to be an action drama, with Prabhas reportedly portraying a powerful police officer. Triptii Dimri is set to play the female lead, while Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj are also part of the cast in important roles.

The film has attracted considerable attention because of changes to its lead cast. Deepika Padukone was initially announced as Prabhas' co-star but was later replaced by Triptii Dimri.

Pranay had previously discussed the reasons behind the casting change, citing remuneration and scheduling issues. He also claimed that Deepika had sought a 10% share of the film's profits, while explaining that the production team believed the proposed financial arrangement did not fit the project's economics.

The casting controversy gained further attention after Deepika engaged with a social media post that defended her reported profit-sharing demand and questioned criticism surrounding the decision. She had earlier maintained that an eight-hour working day was not an unreasonable request.

Meanwhile, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has indicated that Spirit is likely to receive an adult certification because of its intense and violent content. The film's tone and reported action elements have added to anticipation surrounding its release.

With the cast and production having already generated debate, Pranay's latest comments have added another layer to the conversation surrounding Spirit. The producer has effectively invited critics to judge the film once it arrives in cinemas.

Spirit is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 5, 2027, and will bring together Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga for their first film collaboration.
