Vibe Movie Review: Kunal Kemmu’s Chaotic Spy Comedy

Kunal Kemmu’s Vibe, released in theatres on September 18, 2026, blends buddy comedy with a spy-thriller setup. The film follows Hardik (Kemmu) and Bugs (Sparsh Shrivastava), two ordinary friends who become involved in a national-security mission led by intelligence officer Madam H (Preity Zinta).

The film’s humour comes largely from the duo’s contrasting personalities and their repeated missteps. Hardik is impulsive and immature, while Bugs is comparatively sensible but is repeatedly dragged into his friend’s chaotic decisions. Their friendship becomes the emotional core of the story, often proving more engaging than the espionage plot itself.

Kemmu embraces the absurdity of the premise rather than presenting his character as an action hero. Shrivastava provides a calmer counterbalance, while Zinta’s composed intelligence officer creates a comic contrast with the two inexperienced men. Sharmila Tagore, Yashpal Sharma, Dinesh Lal Yadav and Vanshika Dhir also contribute to the film’s ensemble.

However, the screenplay frequently becomes overloaded with gags, twists and complications. The constant escalation can make some sequences feel excessive and reduces the impact of the emotional moments. The film works more effectively when it focuses on the friendship between Hardik and Bugs rather than expanding the spy storyline.

Despite its uneven writing, Vibe has a distinct comic identity and an intentionally chaotic tone. Its appeal lies in watching two unprepared friends navigate an intelligence operation far beyond their abilities, making their incompetence a central source of humour.
