India Enforce Follow-On After Sri Lanka Bowled Out for 290 in 2nd Test

India enforced the follow-on against Sri Lanka after bowling the hosts out for 290 in their first innings on Day 4 of the second Test in Colombo. Sri Lanka finished 213 runs behind India's first-innings total of 503/9 declared.

Sonal Dinusha was the last major resistance for Sri Lanka, scoring 103 before becoming the final wicket to fall. Saransh Jain dismissed Dinusha to complete the innings and help India secure a commanding first-innings lead.

Dinusha began the day unbeaten and survived an early LBW appeal after successfully reviewing the umpire's decision through DRS. He then accelerated his scoring and brought up his second century of the series.

Despite Dinusha's resistance, India's bowlers continued to make regular breakthroughs. Saransh Jain claimed his maiden Test wicket when Lahiru Kumara attempted an aggressive shot and was caught by Dhruv Jurel.

Sri Lanka were eventually bowled out for 290 in 89.4 overs, falling short of avoiding the follow-on by 13 runs. India then decided to send the hosts back to bat as they looked to push for victory despite the threat of rain in Colombo.

India had declared their first innings at 503/9, putting Sri Lanka under immediate pressure. The hosts had ended Day 3 at 265/8, with Dinusha unbeaten on 85 and holding together the lower order.

Prasidh Krishna played an important role in India's bowling effort during the earlier stages of Sri Lanka's innings, while the Indian bowling attack continued to apply pressure on Day 4.

India's decision to enforce the follow-on gives them additional time to bowl Sri Lanka out again, particularly with rain expected to affect the remaining stages of the Test match.
