India Issues Advisory for Citizens in Qatar, Launches 24x7 Helpline Amid Middle East Tensions

India has issued an advisory for its nationals in Qatar following the escalation of tensions in the Middle East after coordinated US–Israeli strikes on Iran. The Indian Embassy in Doha has urged citizens to exercise caution and stay updated through official channels.

In a statement, the Embassy asked Indian nationals to closely follow local news and advisories issued by Qatari authorities. A 24x7 emergency helpline and email support system have been activated to assist Indians requiring help.

Advisory Amid Escalating Conflict

The advisory comes after the United States and Israel launched coordinated military operations on Iran — named Operation Epic Fury by the US and Operation Roaring Lion by Israel.

The strikes reportedly targeted multiple military and government-linked sites in Iran, including locations associated with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian authorities later stated that Khamenei had been moved to a secure location.

In retaliation, Iran launched missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and US-linked bases across Gulf countries, including Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE.

Airspace Closures and Flight Disruptions

Following the escalation:

  • Iran closed its airspace.

  • Israel temporarily shut its airspace.

  • Kuwait and the UAE also imposed temporary restrictions.

Several global airlines have suspended or cancelled services across the region. Indian carriers Air India and IndiGo have already halted Middle East operations amid safety concerns.

Embassy Support and Helpline

The Embassy of India in Doha has advised citizens to:

  • Avoid unnecessary travel.

  • Remain indoors if advised by local authorities.

  • Keep emergency contact numbers accessible.

  • Register with the embassy if not already done.

Indian missions in Iran, Israel and Abu Dhabi have also issued similar advisories, reflecting the broader regional security concerns.

With approximately 8 lakh Indians living in Qatar, the advisory aims to ensure preparedness and timely communication in case the situation worsens.

As diplomatic efforts struggle to regain momentum, Indian authorities have emphasised vigilance and calm, assuring nationals that the government is closely monitoring developments.
