India’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Vipul, attended the funeral of Indian national Mohammed Yousef Ali, who was killed in the October 10 attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh. The Indian Embassy confirmed that the ambassador and embassy officials joined Ali’s family and other well-wishers to pay their respects.

During the funeral service, the ambassador conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul. The embassy also assured the family of continued assistance and support following the tragedy.

According to the mission, embassy officials helped the family complete the formalities associated with the funeral. The outreach followed India’s condemnation of the attack, which also left several people injured, including 10 Indian nationals.

Embassy Provides Assistance to Injured Indians

The Indian Embassy in Riyadh said its officials had visited hospitals to enquire about the condition of Indian nationals receiving treatment after the attack. The mission added that it remained in contact with the injured individuals and their families, providing assistance wherever possible.

The embassy also urged Indian nationals living in Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant, follow instructions issued by local authorities and stay indoors when necessary.

Saudi Arabia has blamed Yemen’s Houthi rebels for the attack. India strongly condemned the strike, expressing concern over repeated attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.

India Calls for an Immediate Halt to Civilian Strikes

India described attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia as “completely unacceptable” and called for an immediate cessation of such strikes.

The attack reportedly killed several people of different nationalities. Alongside Ali, the fatalities included four Saudi citizens, two Bangladeshi nationals, and citizens of Palestine, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Sudan.

The Indian Embassy’s engagement with Ali’s family and its outreach to injured nationals underline the assistance being provided to affected Indians following the incident.
