Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan Slams US Action on Iran, Seeks Safety for Indians

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday sharply criticised the United States over its actions against Iran, alleging that Washington was engaging in what he described as “hooliganism” and imperial aggression that undermines the sovereignty of nations.

Speaking at an event in Wayanad during the inauguration of the first phase of a government-constructed township for landslide survivors, Vijayan also criticised Israel, calling it a “rogue state” and a close ally of the US.

The Chief Minister alleged that the United States was taking irrational decisions that interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign countries. He claimed that the ongoing attacks against Iran lacked justifiable grounds and said that even Iran’s supreme leader was being targeted in the conflict.

Referring to the broader geopolitical developments in West Asia, Vijayan stated that no country has the right to impose its views or policies on others. He argued that global relations should be guided by mutual respect, rather than force or military power.

According to him, powerful nations, backed by strong military and financial influence, often attempt to dominate countries they consider hostile. He described such actions as examples of “imperialist aggression” and questioned the justification behind the reported strikes on Iran.

The Kerala Chief Minister also urged people to express strong protest against what he termed violations of international norms. His remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following military escalation involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

Amid the rising conflict, Vijayan said he has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking immediate intervention to ensure the safety of Indians residing in the Middle East. He stressed that protecting Indian citizens working and living abroad must remain a top priority during the ongoing crisis.

The Middle East is home to millions of Indian expatriates, particularly in Gulf nations. With escalating tensions and airspace disruptions, concerns have grown about the safety of Indian workers, students and professionals in the region.

Vijayan’s comments reflect the political reactions emerging within India over international developments in West Asia. As the global situation continues to evolve, both state and central governments are closely monitoring the impact on Indian citizens and economic interests.

The conflict has sparked debates across political lines, with leaders expressing varying views on foreign policy, sovereignty and international intervention.
