Braj Holi 2026: Huge Crowds in Vrindavan, Special Temple Timings on March 3

The vibrant celebrations of Braj Holi 2026 are in full swing across Vrindavan, Mathura, Barsana and Nandgaon, with thousands of devotees and tourists gathering on March 3 to witness the grand festivities rooted in Lord Krishna’s legends.

The Braj region, considered the heartland of Krishna devotion, witnesses Holi celebrations that span over several days. Unlike other parts of India where Holi is celebrated mainly on one day, Braj’s festivities stretch across multiple rituals including Laddoo Holi, Lathmar Holi, Phoolon Wali Holi and Rangotsav events.

On March 3, heavy footfall was reported in Vrindavan, particularly around the famous Banke Bihari Temple, where special darshan and aarti timings were implemented due to festival arrangements. Temple authorities issued revised schedules to manage the surge of devotees and ensure smooth crowd control during peak hours.

Security arrangements have been tightened across Mathura and Vrindavan, with local administration deploying additional police personnel and surveillance measures. Barricading and controlled entry points have been set up near major temples and event locations.

Barsana and Nandgaon continue to attract visitors for traditional Lathmar Holi celebrations, a symbolic reenactment of playful exchanges between Lord Krishna and Radha’s village. Devotees dressed in traditional attire were seen participating in devotional songs, gulal rituals and temple processions.

Local businesses and tourism services have also witnessed a sharp rise in activity, with hotels reporting high occupancy rates. The extended Holi calendar in Braj has boosted religious tourism, drawing pilgrims from across India and abroad.

Authorities have appealed to visitors to follow safety guidelines, avoid overcrowding and adhere to temple instructions. Emergency medical teams and help desks have been stationed at key locations to assist pilgrims.

The celebrations are expected to continue in the coming days with Rangwali Holi and additional temple events lined up across the Braj region.

Braj Holi remains one of India’s most iconic cultural and spiritual festivals, blending devotion, tradition and vibrant colour in the land associated with Lord Krishna.
