Mohanlal's 7-Film Line-Up: From Thrillers to Fantasy, Here's What's Coming

At 66, Mohanlal has announced an ambitious seven-film line-up that brings together a mix of new collaborations and long-standing partnerships. The upcoming projects span several genres, including thrillers, fantasy and emotional dramas, highlighting the Malayalam superstar's continued focus on diverse roles.

Mohanlal shared the line-up on August 18, revealing collaborations with filmmakers including Vishnu Mohan, Anoop Sathyan, Priyadarshan, Dileesh Pothan, Sathyan Anthikad, Jude Anthany Joseph and Jeethu Joseph.

The first major project in the line-up is the Vishnu Mohan directorial, tentatively titled L367. While details remain limited, the film is expected to be an intense thriller and is reportedly inspired by the circumstances surrounding Operation Ganga, the February 2022 evacuation mission that brought Indian citizens, including medical students, back from Ukraine during the Russian invasion.

The film is not expected to be a direct adaptation of the evacuation operation. If the reports are accurate, it could see Mohanlal take on a survival thriller rooted in a recent geopolitical crisis.

Another significant project is Priyadarshan's 100th film, which brings the filmmaker back together with Mohanlal. The actor starred in Priyadarshan's directorial debut Poochakkoru Mookkuthi in 1984, making the upcoming collaboration a full-circle moment in their long association.

The 100th film is being described as an emotional musical drama, although details about its storyline remain under wraps. The project marks another major milestone in the careers of both Priyadarshan and Mohanlal.

Dileesh Pothan is also reportedly exploring a different genre with Mohanlal in Nedumkandam Miracle. Known for realistic and grounded films such as Maheshinte Prathikaram and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, Pothan is expected to venture into fantasy with the upcoming project.

The combination of Pothan and Mohanlal in a fantasy film has generated interest because neither the filmmaker nor the actor is primarily associated with the genre. Details about the story and production remain limited.

The seven-film slate also includes projects with Jude Anthany Joseph and Anoop Sathyan. Jude's upcoming film with Mohanlal is still largely under wraps. The actor previously appeared in a cameo in Jude's Thudakkam, which marked the directorial debut of Mohanlal's daughter Vismaya.

The upcoming project will mark the first full-fledged collaboration between Mohanlal and Jude Anthany Joseph.

Anoop Sathyan, known for Varane Aavashyamund, is also set to direct Mohanlal in what is expected to be a quirky action-comedy thriller. Both Anoop and Jude represent newer directorial collaborations for the actor.

At the same time, Mohanlal is returning to some of his established creative partnerships. He is set to collaborate again with veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad following Hridayapoorvam. Anthikad and Mohanlal have previously worked together on several popular family dramas.

Mohanlal will also reunite with Jeethu Joseph, the filmmaker behind the Drishyam franchise. Their next project has led to speculation about whether it could finally be the long-delayed Ram or an entirely new film. No confirmation about the project's identity has been provided yet.

Before these seven projects move forward, Mohanlal has another release lined up. His next film is Athimanoharam, directed by Tharun Moorthy and featuring Meera Jasmine. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on December 24, 2026.

Mohanlal began shooting for Athimanoharam on August 18 near the Pampa region. Written by Ratheesh Ravi, the film also features Mukesh, Jagadish and Manoj K Jayan in important roles.

The actor will also make cameo appearances in Prithviraj Sukumaran's Khalifa: Part 1 and Rajinikanth's Jailer 2.

With multiple projects spanning different genres and filmmakers, Mohanlal's upcoming slate reflects an unusually varied phase of his career. The combination of new directors, established collaborators and genre experiments gives the actor several different opportunities to explore his screen presence.
