Mridul Tiwari Slams Bigg Boss 19 Eviction Twist: ‘It Felt Like a Joke’

Mridul Tiwari’s eviction from Bigg Boss 19 has sparked widespread debate online, but for the YouTuber himself, the twist felt less shocking and more absurd. Speaking exclusively to India Today, Mridul opened up about the “unfair” mid-season twist that abruptly ended his 80-day journey on the show.

Mridul said he was stunned to learn that his eviction was decided not by public voting — the show’s traditional format — but by a group of 50 external participants brought in for a task. “It felt like a joke,” he said. “I completed my journey sincerely. But to be evicted because a handful of unknown people didn’t vote for me? It didn’t make sense.”

The unusual elimination format prompted viewers to allege bias, with fans calling the eviction “rigged” and “pre-planned.” While Mridul refrained from endorsing these claims, he said the audience’s reaction moved him. “They knew it was unfair, and they spoke up. That support is everything.”

Inside the Bigg Boss house, discussions around selective or strategic evictions have already surfaced. Contestants Pranit More and Gaurav Khanna — both close to Mridul — were seen admitting that their group faced tougher consequences compared to rival housemates. “It seemed possible,” Mridul said. “Whenever the other group was nominated, no one left. But from our side, exits were always harsh.”

One moment from his eviction episode went viral: Mridul’s polite apology to Farhana Bhatt and Kunika Sadanand — even though both had been confrontational toward him. Asked about it, he said he wanted to leave without bitterness, though he did not downplay the behaviour he faced. “I was definitely bullied during my captaincy. Farhana was unnecessarily cruel. I still don’t understand how she wasn’t eliminated.”

Despite the turbulence, the YouTuber’s strongest takeaway from the show remains his bond with co-contestant Gaurav Khanna. “He was like an elder brother,” he said. “If anyone deserves to win this season, it’s Gaurav. If someone else wins, I won’t take it seriously.”

Responding to Salman Khan’s comment that his “flight never took off,” Mridul said he has been overwhelmed by the response outside. “The love I’m receiving right now — that’s the real flight. On the show, I did everything others did. What was I supposed to do to be ‘seen’? Break furniture?”

Now that he’s out, Mridul is clear about his next move — returning to YouTube. “That’s my first identity, and it will remain so,” he added.

Bigg Boss 19 airs on JioHotstar at 9 pm and Colors at 10:30 pm.
