Mumbai Influencer Files Complaint Seeking Probe Into Alleged Presence of Minors at Delhi NEET Protest

A Mumbai-based social media influencer has approached the Indore Police, seeking an investigation into the alleged participation of minors in a CJP-led protest over the NEET paper leak at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.

The complaint requests authorities to examine available evidence, including photographs, videos, CCTV footage and social media content, to determine whether any laws were violated during the protest.

Complaint seeks probe into participation of minors

According to police officials, complainant Faizan Ansari, who describes himself as a social media influencer, has asked investigators to examine whether Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke, the party's chief spokesperson Saurav Das, or any other individuals facilitated the participation of minor boys and girls in the protest.

The complaint urges investigators to preserve and scrutinise:

• Photographs and videos from the protest
• Media interviews
• Public statements
• CCTV footage from the protest site and surrounding areas
• Social media posts
• Other electronic evidence

Indore Police confirms investigation

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya confirmed that the complaint has been received.

"We have received a complaint from Ansari, who claims to be a social media influencer. The complaint is being investigated. Appropriate action will be taken based on the facts that emerge from the investigation," Dandotiya said.

Police have not registered an FIR so far and said further action will depend on the outcome of the preliminary inquiry.

Complaint cites multiple legal provisions

The complaint states that if investigators find evidence of any cognisable offence, an FIR should be registered under relevant laws, including:

• Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act
• Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)
• Information Technology Act
• Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act

The complainant has requested authorities to determine whether any legal violations occurred due to the alleged involvement of minors during the demonstration.

Background: CJP-led NEET protest

The CJP-led protest over the alleged NEET question paper leak was held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi and continued for 36 days.

The agitation concluded after the resignation of then Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and discussions between protest leaders and the government. During the protest, demonstrators also attempted to march towards Parliament on July 20, where clashes broke out after Delhi Police stopped the march and dispersed protesters.

The protest was officially withdrawn on July 25 following the government's acceptance of the protesters' demands.

Investigation to determine next course of action

The complaint before Indore Police is limited to seeking an inquiry into the alleged presence of minors at the protest. Authorities have stated that any decision on registering a criminal case or initiating legal proceedings will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
