The NEET-PG 2026 results have revealed that 258 candidates scored zero or negative marks in the postgraduate medical entrance examination, according to an analysis of the result data published by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).

Over 2.65 lakh candidates appeared
A total of 2,65,960 candidates appeared for NEET-PG 2026. Of these, 2,63,544 candidates took the examination on August 30.
Another 2,416 candidates appeared in a re-examination held in Jaipur on September 5 after a power failure disrupted the test at the affected examination centre.
The figures on candidates scoring zero or below are based on analysis of the published score list and do not represent a separate category-wise breakdown released by NBEMS.
NEET-PG qualifying cut-offs
The qualifying cut-off for General and Economically Weaker Section candidates was 262 marks out of 720, corresponding to the 50th percentile.
For General candidates with benchmark disabilities, the cut-off stood at 244 marks, or the 45th percentile. Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, including those with benchmark disabilities, needed 226 marks, corresponding to the 40th percentile.
All 258 candidates who scored zero or below therefore remained below the qualifying threshold across all categories.
The 2026 qualifying cut-offs were also reported to be the lowest across categories since 2021. NEET-PG serves as India's national entrance examination for admission to postgraduate medical courses.
