The NEET PG 2026 examination has come under scrutiny in a plea before the Supreme Court challenging the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) disclosure process. The petition argues that candidates cannot independently verify their scores unless they are provided with the actual questions and complete answer options that appeared on their individual screens.
NEET-PG 2026 was conducted on August 30, with 2,65,960 candidates appearing for the examination. The results were declared on September 24, while NBEMS released scorecard and answer-key-related information through candidate logins on October 1. The NBEMS notice confirms that the scorecard and answer key were made available for NEET-PG 2026.
What the NEET PG 2026 plea seeks
The petition, filed by the Democratic Medical Association, challenges the extent of information provided to candidates. According to the plea, NBEMS has disclosed Question IDs, numerical IDs of correct answers, candidates' recorded responses and marks awarded for individual questions.
However, the petition argues that the actual question text and complete answer options, in the candidate-specific sequence in which they appeared, have not been provided.
The plea says this creates difficulties in checking whether responses were correctly mapped and whether the final answer key was appropriately applied. It also seeks the actual questions and options so candidates can identify possible issues such as ambiguous questions, multiple correct answers or discrepancies in answer mapping.
Candidate-wise records sought
The petition asks NBEMS to provide each candidate with a complete record corresponding to the question paper they received. This would include the questions in their original sequence, answer options in the same order, recorded responses, official correct answers and marks awarded.
It has also sought a downloadable electronic copy of the records and a reasonable, time-bound mechanism through which candidates could raise objections after reviewing the material.
The plea refers to an earlier NEET-PG case concerning disclosure of question IDs, answer keys and candidate responses, arguing that a transparent and verifiable post-examination mechanism should be established for future examinations.
Counselling process in focus
The issue comes as candidates await the next stages of the NEET-PG admission process. The petition seeks changes to the October 1 disclosure notice to the extent that it limits the information available to candidates.
The Supreme Court's published records also show that disclosure of NEET-PG question papers and answer sheets has previously been raised before the court.
The plea ultimately seeks complete candidate-wise examination records and an opportunity for candidates to raise objections before the counselling process advances.
