NEET SS 2025 Cut-Off Reduced to 30th Percentile by NBEMS

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has reduced the qualifying percentile for NEET-SS 2025 from the 50th to the 30th percentile, making more candidates eligible for the ongoing counselling process. The revised qualifying criteria were announced through a notification dated September 22, 2026, with the updated result shared with the Medical Counselling Committee.

The decision followed the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s move after a September 17 Supreme Court order concerning NEET-SS 2025 counselling. The Centre had informed the court that 1,857 super-speciality seats remained vacant after the second counselling round and agreed to lower the qualifying threshold to facilitate a proposed Special Stray Vacancy Round.

Under the revised criteria, qualifying marks out of 600 vary by question paper group. The cut-off is 325 for Obstetrics and Gynaecology, 315 for Radiodiagnosis, 306 for Microbiology, 302 for Psychiatry, 285 for Respiratory Medicine and 254 for Critical Care Medicine. The Medical group has the lowest revised cut-off at 175 marks.

NBEMS has clarified that the change in qualifying percentile will not alter the group-specific ranks announced on January 23, 2026. No fresh scorecards will be issued either.

Candidates’ academic credentials will continue to be verified during admission. NBEMS has also warned that incorrect information provided in applications, including details used for tie-breaking, could lead to cancellation of candidature.

The revised threshold is intended to expand eligibility as authorities work to fill vacant super-speciality medical seats.
