Paresh Rawal Baburao Fatigue: Actor Says Repetition Overshadows His Other Roles

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, best known for his iconic portrayal of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in the legendary Hera Pheri series, has admitted he feels “bored” of the repeated demand to play the same character. In a recent conversation with entrepreneur and podcaster Raj Shamani, Rawal shared that while he deeply values the audience’s affection for Baburao, its overwhelming popularity often eclipses his other significant performances.

“When you have huge characters with a goodwill of 500 crores, why don’t you take a risk and fly? Why are you stagnant?” said Rawal, expressing his wish for creative diversity.

He revealed that although fans and filmmakers repeatedly request him to reprise similar comic roles, he consciously avoids doing so. “Everybody wants to cash in on Baburao. But legally, it’s Firoz Nadiadwala’s property, so I cannot play it in any other film. It’s a virtue born out of helplessness,” he said.

Despite his creative concerns, Paresh Rawal is set to reprise Baburao once again in Hera Pheri 3, alongside Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty. The trio will reunite to continue the beloved comedy franchise, which has defined an era of Bollywood humor.

Rawal emphasized that while Baburao remains a crowd favorite, he wants audiences to remember his other acclaimed roles in films like Sardar, OMG – Oh My God!, Welcome, and Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge?

With filming for Hera Pheri 3 expected to begin early next year, fans are excited yet again to see their favorite trio back in action — but for Paresh Rawal, the challenge lies in balancing legacy with reinvention.
