Prabhas Prepares for Kalki 2 and Spirit Back-to-Back Shoots in 2026

Actor Prabhas is set to enter one of the most demanding phases of his career in 2026, with back-to-back shooting schedules planned for two of his most anticipated films — Kalki 2 and Spirit. According to industry reports, the actor will divide his time between the two big-budget projects starting February, managing overlapping schedules across genres.

Principal photography for Kalki 2 is expected to begin in the first half of 2026. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sequel continues the ambitious sci-fi universe established in the first film, which drew attention for its scale, visual storytelling and pan-India appeal. The makers are reportedly planning an expansive shoot with key action and visual effects-heavy sequences, requiring Prabhas to commit significant time and physical preparation.

Parallelly, Prabhas will also resume shooting for Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film, positioned as a high-octane action drama, had already begun production in late 2025. Prabhas is now set to return to the sets to continue filming his portions, making February 2026 a tightly packed month with minimal breaks.

The dual schedule reflects the actor’s attempt to balance diverse roles — one rooted in futuristic storytelling and the other grounded in intense, character-driven action. Industry insiders note that managing two films of this scale simultaneously is logistically challenging, but Prabhas has previously handled similar schedules during peak phases of his career.

Attention around Kalki 2 has also intensified due to casting developments. Actress Deepika Padukone exited the project in 2025, with the makers stating that a film of this magnitude requires complete commitment. Since then, speculation has grown around potential replacements, with Sai Pallavi emerging as a possible contender. However, no official confirmation has been made so far.

Reports had earlier suggested that the exit followed differences related to remuneration and working hours, though the actress later addressed the matter publicly, stating that she prefers handling professional challenges privately and with dignity.

Meanwhile, Spirit features a strong supporting cast including Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj. The film is currently slated for a worldwide theatrical release on March 5, 2027, positioning it as one of the most awaited action releases in the coming years.

With Kalki 2 and Spirit progressing simultaneously, 2026 is shaping up to be a crucial year for Prabhas — one that could further consolidate his position as a leading force in large-scale Indian cinema.
