Russia Ratifies RELOS Ahead of Putin’s India Visit; Su-57 Fighter Talks Confirmed

Russia has officially ratified the Reciprocal Exchange of Logistics Support (RELOS) agreement with India, just ahead of President Vladimir Putin’s visit to New Delhi on December 5. The pact will allow both nations to access each other’s ports, airspace, and military logistics infrastructure—enabling smoother naval deployments, joint exercises, and humanitarian missions.

The move further strengthens India–Russia defence cooperation at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that discussions on Russia’s Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jet will be part of the bilateral agenda.
“The issue of Su-57s certainly will be on the agenda during the coming visit,” he said, signalling potential momentum for deeper collaboration in next-gen aerospace technologies.

President Putin also reiterated Moscow’s commitment to its "key partners, China and India," underscoring the importance of New Delhi in Russia’s strategic calculus.

The visit comes at a delicate global moment—reports suggest Washington is imposing new tariffs on Indian goods, while negotiations continue on a possible peace plan for the conflict in Ukraine. Against this backdrop, the RELOS ratification marks a significant milestone in India–Russia military interoperability and long-term strategic coordination.
