Salman-Arpita Rakhi Video With Jesus Mural Goes Viral, Sparks ‘Most Secular’ Reactions

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s Raksha Bandhan celebration with his sister Arpita Khan Sharma has gone viral on social media after viewers noticed a large mural of Jesus Christ featuring Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper in the background.

Arpita shared a video from the family’s Raksha Bandhan gathering at Alvira Khan Agnihotri’s home. In the video, she performs aarti and ties a rakhi to Salman Khan as the mural remains visible behind them.

The unusual visual combination quickly became a talking point on social media, with several users describing the moment as a reflection of India’s religious and cultural diversity.

Arpita was seen wearing a patterned white kurta with a matching dupatta, while Salman opted for a casual T-shirt, jeans and a black cowboy-style hat. During the ceremony, Arpita performed the traditional Raksha Bandhan rituals before tying the rakhi on her brother’s wrist.

Several users on X reacted to the setting, with one describing the clip as “the most secular video on internet today”. Another user highlighted the presence of a Muslim brother, Hindu sister and a depiction of Jesus in the background.

A third reaction described Arpita tying a rakhi to Salman in front of The Last Supper as an example of India’s distinctive form of secularism.

The video also drew humorous reactions, with users joking about the family gathering bringing together multiple religious and cultural references in a single frame.

Salman was also photographed outside Alvira Agnihotri’s residence with several colourful rakhis tied around his wrist and a tilak on his forehead. When photographers asked him to show the rakhis, he briefly raised his wrist before getting into his car.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR SALMAN KHAN

On the professional front, Salman Khan is awaiting the release of Maatrubhumi, earlier titled Battle of Galwan. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia and also starring Chitrangada Singh, the film has not yet received an official release date.

Salman is also returning as the host of the upcoming season of Bigg Boss. Bigg Boss 20 is scheduled to premiere on September 6.

The Raksha Bandhan video, meanwhile, continues to attract attention online, with viewers focusing less on the ritual itself and more on the striking combination of religious imagery visible in the background.
