Comedian and actor Sunil Grover has once again proven why he is regarded as one of India’s finest mimicry artists. A newly released promotional video for the upcoming project Happy Patel has gone viral after Grover delivered an uncannily accurate impersonation of Aamir Khan, triggering a chain of hilarious misunderstandings inside Aamir Khan’s own office.
The promo opens with actor Vir Das entering what appears to be Aamir Khan’s office. He is greeted by Sunil Grover, fully dressed and styled like Aamir, flawlessly replicating his voice, expressions, body language and conversational tone. Initially puzzled, Vir appears doubtful, but Grover’s performance soon becomes so convincing that skepticism gives way to complete belief.
Staying firmly in character, Grover warmly congratulates Vir on his recent work, praising his filmmaking abilities and even presenting him with a bonus cheque. He goes on to confidently declare that the film is destined for massive success, joking that if it does not become a blockbuster or win international accolades, then he cannot possibly be Aamir Khan. The exaggerated confidence, paired with pitch-perfect mimicry, sets the tone for the escalating comedy.
The situation takes an even more absurd turn when the real Aamir Khan enters the office. Clearly surprised by the scene unfolding in front of him, Aamir questions the impersonator’s presence. However, before he can assert himself, Grover—still fully immersed in character—turns the tables and asks Aamir who he is. The confusion peaks when Vir Das mistakenly identifies the real Aamir Khan as Sunil Grover.
What follows is the most ironic moment of the skit. Security personnel, who have already been charmed by the impersonator and even received cheques from him, intervene — but instead of escorting the impersonator out, they end up escorting the real Aamir Khan from his own office. The sequence ends with laughter, underlining the absurdity of the mix-up.
Aamir Khan has previously expressed admiration for Sunil Grover’s mimicry skills. After Grover’s Aamir Khan impression went viral on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Aamir described the act as incredibly authentic, stating that it felt like watching himself on screen. He also praised the performance for being respectful and free of malice, adding that it left him laughing uncontrollably.
The new Happy Patel promo builds on that viral momentum, offering fans a self-aware, playful take on celebrity culture and impersonation. Social media users have widely shared the clip, applauding Grover’s precision and comic timing, while also enjoying Aamir Khan’s willingness to participate in the joke.
The video stands as another reminder of how effective good mimicry can be when paired with sharp writing and performers who are willing to laugh at themselves.
