The wait is finally over for fans of The Night Manager. Prime Video and the BBC have unveiled the first-look images from the highly anticipated second season of the award-winning espionage thriller, marking the return of Tom Hiddleston as Jonathan Pine — the former intelligence operative whose past continues to haunt him.
The upcoming season, comprising six episodes, will stream globally on Prime Video (excluding the UK) and on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the United Kingdom.
Eight years after its critically acclaimed first season — which earned multiple Emmy, Golden Globe, and BAFTA Awards — The Night Manager returns with a brand-new chapter set in the present day.
Hiddleston reprises his role as Jonathan Pine, now living under a new identity as Alex Goodwin, a low-level MI6 officer managing a surveillance unit in London. But when an unexpected encounter with a familiar mercenary from Richard Roper’s (the original villain’s) network resurfaces, Pine is drawn back into a world of deception, global conspiracies, and deadly betrayals.
The new season expands the story far beyond John le Carré’s original novel, introducing fresh international players and a more expansive global setting.
Joining the cast are:
Diego Calva (Narcos: Mexico) as Colombian businessman Teddy Dos Santos
Camila Morrone (Daisy Jones & The Six) as Roxana Bolaos, a sharp businesswoman with hidden motives
Indira Varma (Game of Thrones) as Mayra
Paul Chahidi as Basil
Hayley Squires (Beau Is Afraid) as Sally
Returning alongside Hiddleston is Academy Award-winner Olivia Colman (The Crown, The Favourite) as Angela Burr, Pine’s mentor and ally. Also reprising their roles are Alistair Petrie, Douglas Hodge, Michael Nardone, and Noah Jupe.
Season 2 is produced by The Ink Factory, in collaboration with Character 7, Demarest Films, and 127 Wall, with co-production support from Spain’s Nostromo Pictures.
BAFTA winner Georgi Banks-Davies directs all six episodes, while David Farr, the creator of the first season, returns as writer and executive producer. The executive team also includes Stephen Garrett, Simon and Stephen Cornwell, Michele Wolkoff, Tessa Inkelaar, Adrián Guerra, Hugh Laurie, and Tom Hiddleston himself.
Filmed across London, Spain, Colombia, and France, the upcoming season follows Pine’s infiltration into a high-stakes arms operation run by Dos Santos. As Pine navigates shifting alliances and international espionage, the series promises to deliver the intense, emotionally complex storytelling that made the first season a global hit.
With its return, The Night Manager aims to bridge past and present — combining the moral ambiguity of le Carré’s world with contemporary political relevance.
The Night Manager Season 2 will premiere later this year on Prime Video worldwide and BBC One/iPlayer in the UK. With Hiddleston and Colman back in the spotlight, and a fresh global narrative at play, the series looks poised to become one of the most anticipated television events of 2025.
Eight years on, Jonathan Pine’s story is far from over — the shadows have only grown deeper.
