US Says IRGC Headquarters in Tehran Destroyed in Massive Strike

The United States military on Monday claimed it had completely destroyed the Tehran headquarters of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), marking a dramatic escalation in the ongoing conflict between Washington and Tehran.

US Central Command (Centcom) announced that a large-scale strike targeted the IRGC’s main command infrastructure in the Iranian capital, describing the action as having “cut off the head of the snake.” The statement alleged that the IRGC had been responsible for the deaths of over 1,000 Americans over several decades and said the latest strike was aimed at eliminating imminent threats.

According to US officials, the operation formed part of the broader military campaign named Operation Epic Fury. The offensive reportedly began over the weekend and has since expanded across multiple regions in Iran. American authorities claimed that more than 1,000 Iranian targets have been struck so far.

The targets included command and control centres, ballistic missile facilities, integrated air defence systems, naval assets, aerospace units and military communication infrastructure. US military statements also said Iranian naval vessels and submarines were hit during coordinated strikes.

Video footage shared by US Central Command showed what it described as a missile launched from a naval frigate striking a large complex in Tehran believed to be associated with the IRGC. Another video reportedly showed the destruction of an Iranian aircraft stationed at an airbase.

The IRGC, established after the 1979 Islamic Revolution, is an elite military force that operates parallel to Iran’s regular army and reports directly to the country’s supreme leadership. The group has played a central role in Iran’s regional security and military operations.

US officials further claimed that senior Iranian leadership figures were killed during the strikes. Iranian authorities, however, have not independently confirmed several of the claims made by Washington.

The conflict has widened across the Middle East, with Iran launching missile and drone attacks targeting US interests and allied nations in the Gulf. Israel has also carried out strikes against positions linked to Hezbollah in Lebanon amid cross-border exchanges.

According to Iranian officials, more than 200 people have been killed since the latest round of hostilities began. The United States confirmed casualties among its service members, while Israeli authorities reported fatalities following missile strikes on civilian areas.

As the military campaign continues, global concerns are rising over the risk of a prolonged regional war. Several European nations have expressed support for efforts aimed at deterring further escalation, while diplomatic calls for restraint have intensified.

The situation remains highly volatile, with both sides continuing military operations and issuing strong statements as tensions show little sign of easing.
