AAP Protests in Mohali as ED Raids GMADA Offices and Minister’s Kin

The Enforcement Directorate has continued searches at the Greater Mohali Area Development Authority (GMADA) headquarters in Mohali as part of a money-laundering investigation linked to alleged financial irregularities in land allotments, development projects and related transactions. The operation has also extended to other locations, including the residence of a relative of Punjab minister Hardeep Singh Mundian.

The searches prompted Aam Aadmi Party workers to stage a demonstration outside the GMADA office, waving black flags and raising slogans against the central agency. AAP leaders have alleged that the ED action is being used to pressure the Punjab government ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Those claims are political allegations and have not been established as facts.

The ED probe is examining alleged financial irregularities involving GMADA, including land-related transactions and concessions. Searches have also been conducted at other locations connected to the investigation, including the Chandigarh residence of AAP leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain and properties linked to senior officials.

The Punjab government has challenged the ED operation before the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The court appointed a warrant officer to inspect the search locations and submit a status report, adding a judicial dimension to the ongoing dispute.

The investigation and political confrontation are unfolding months before Punjab’s scheduled 2027 Assembly election, with both the ED action and AAP’s allegations drawing increased attention in the state.
