Bhagwant Mann Directs Punjab Police to Crack Down on Drug Supply Chains

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann chaired a review meeting with senior civil and police officials on the state’s ongoing anti-drug campaign, directing authorities to intensify action against drug trafficking and strengthen efforts to disrupt supply networks.

Mann called for stricter measures against drug peddlers and faster confiscation of properties allegedly linked to drug smugglers. He also gave the police operational freedom to act against those involved in the supply chain, including at the grassroots level.

The meeting comes amid renewed attention on drug abuse in Punjab following the Sangrur incident. Senior police officials were instructed to step up enforcement and focus on protecting young people from the impact of drug trafficking.

The state government has reiterated its zero-tolerance approach towards the illegal drug trade, with the latest directions aimed at targeting both street-level sellers and wider supply networks.
