Adani Airports has announced a phased investment of Rs 10,000 crore to expand Lucknow’s Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (CCSIA), aiming to enhance capacity, modernize facilities, adopt advanced technology, and bolster cargo infrastructure.
The company has already invested Rs 2,401 crore in a new terminal and landside road infrastructure. Currently, the airport accommodates 8 million passengers annually.
By 2026-27, capacity is expected to reach 14 million passengers with the completion of Terminal 3, Phase 2, requiring an additional Rs 900 crore investment.
An Adani Airports official said the expansion will employ “swing operations,” allowing common facilities for international and domestic flights during peak traffic periods. This approach aims to improve passenger experience by integrating modernization, technology, and elements of art and culture.
Presently, the airport features seven fully operational aerobridges, can handle Type D aircraft, and provides parking for 15 aircraft simultaneously. Connectivity has grown significantly, with 42 direct routes, including 31 domestic and 11 international destinations. International travelers account for nearly 19% of total traffic, and Lucknow contributes around 4% to Uttar Pradesh’s GDP.
In addition to passenger services, Adani Airports is focusing on cargo operations, targeting 50,000 metric tonnes of cargo capacity within the next five years. Plans also include introducing new international routes, such as direct flights to Vietnam and Singapore.
The expansion underscores Adani Airports’ long-term strategy to strengthen Lucknow as a regional aviation hub while supporting passenger and cargo growth across Uttar Pradesh.
