Arjun Tendulkar Shines in SMAT 2025 With 3 Wickets After Major IPL Trade to LSG

Arjun Tendulkar continued his impressive form in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, extending his strong all-round run for Goa after his high-profile IPL trade to Lucknow Super Giants. The left-arm seamer delivered another impactful performance in Kolkata on Tuesday, helping Goa secure a seven-wicket victory over Madhya Pradesh.

Bowling the first over of the innings, Arjun struck early and finished with figures of 3 for 36 in four overs, giving away just five runs in his opening two overs. He dismissed opener Shivang Kumar with the new ball, removed Ankush Singh soon after, and later claimed the key wicket of India all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer, who could only manage six off 13 deliveries. Arjun also contributed to the dismissal of MP captain Rajat Patidar by taking a sharp catch off Koushik V.

Goa restricted Madhya Pradesh to 170/6 in 20 overs. Arjun then provided a brisk start with the bat, scoring 16 off 10 balls with three boundaries while opening the innings — a role he has embraced throughout the tournament.

Captain Suyash Prabhudessai’s unbeaten 75 off 50 balls sealed the chase as Goa overhauled the 171-run target in 18.3 overs.

Arjun has now picked up six wickets in four matches at an economy rate of 7.70, and scored 65 runs at a strike rate of 120 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His strong form includes a standout new-ball spell in Goa’s 50-run win over Chandigarh in November.

A New Chapter After IPL Trade

Arjun’s domestic resurgence comes at a crucial time as he prepares for a fresh start with Lucknow Super Giants, who traded for him from Mumbai Indians ahead of the IPL 2026 mini-auction on December 16.

Arjun made his IPL debut in 2023 for MI, playing intermittently across the next two seasons before going unused in the 2025 campaign. Seeking more opportunities, he shifted from Mumbai to Goa in domestic cricket, where he took 11 wickets in five Ranji Trophy matches earlier this year.

With senior speedster Mohammed Shami also joining Lucknow Super Giants, Arjun will have a seasoned mentor in the upcoming IPL season — a valuable boost as he continues to develop as a bowling all-rounder.
