Arne Slot Accepts Responsibility After Liverpool’s 3–0 Home Defeat to Nottingham Forest

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has accepted full responsibility for his team’s 3–0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, a result that marks one of the club’s heaviest home Premier League losses in history. The defeat has deepened the pressure on Liverpool, whose poor run of form continued in front of a stunned Anfield crowd on Saturday, November 22.

Nottingham Forest, who started the day inside the relegation zone, delivered a disciplined and clinical performance to secure a rare and memorable win. Murillo, Nicolo Savona and Morgan Gibbs-White found the net as Forest exposed Liverpool’s defensive frailties and capitalised on their growing lack of confidence.

Slot Accepts Blame After Another Major Setback

Slot admitted the team started positively but quickly lost control once Forest opened the scoring.

“Another big disappointment,” Slot said. “We started well for the first half hour. But after we conceded the first goal, we were no longer able to play the way we did at the beginning. If things go well or bad, it’s my responsibility.”

The manager acknowledged that tactical adjustments he made during the game failed to produce results, as Liverpool struggled to create meaningful chances and showed little cutting edge in the final third.

Forest Take Control as Liverpool Collapse

Murillo’s opener came after a defensive lapse, shifting momentum firmly in Forest’s favour. Immediately after half-time, Savona struck again, a moment Slot described as “damaging,” especially against a team that had effectively blocked Liverpool’s forward play.

Gibbs-White later sealed the victory, punishing Liverpool’s disorganised defence and leaving the home supporters visibly frustrated.

Despite fielding several experienced players, Liverpool were unable to mount any comeback, with the manager stressing that the squad’s quality alone was not enough to stop the recent decline.

Injuries and Form Add to Liverpool’s Concerns

Liverpool’s troubles are compounded by growing injuries, with Florian Wirtz and Conor Bradley newly sidelined. Meanwhile, high-profile signing Alexander Isak, the Premier League’s most expensive player, continues to struggle for form and was substituted after another quiet performance.

With difficult fixtures ahead, Slot’s side now face urgent questions about their tactical direction, squad readiness and ability to recover from one of the most challenging phases of their season.
