Chadwick Boseman, the beloved actor who brought Black Panther/T’Challa to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will be posthumously honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 20. His star, numbered 2,828, will be installed at 6904 Hollywood Boulevard, outside the Hollywood Experience gift shop—an area known for its memorabilia and life-sized celebrity cutouts.
According to the official Walk of Fame website, Boseman will be recognised in the Motion Pictures category during a ceremony scheduled for 11:30 am PT. The news was also confirmed by Variety, which announced the honour through its official social media accounts. Hollywood Walk of Fame reposted the announcement on Instagram.
Boseman died on August 28, 2020, at the age of 43 after a private four-year battle with colon cancer. His widow, Simone Ledward-Boseman, will accept the honour on his behalf. Viola Davis—his co-star in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom—and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler are expected to deliver special addresses during the ceremony, according to Billboard. The event will stream live on walkoffame.com.
Steve Nissen, President and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, will host the ceremony. In a statement, Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said, “The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce is deeply honored to celebrate Chadwick Boseman’s extraordinary legacy. His powerful performances and lasting impact, both on and off screen, continue to inspire generations worldwide.”
Chadwick Boseman’s Hollywood journey began with The Express: The Ernie Davis Story (2008), where he portrayed football star Floyd Little. His breakout moment arrived with his portrayal of baseball legend Jackie Robinson in 42 (2013), followed by acclaimed performances as James Brown in Get On Up (2014) and Thurgood Marshall in Marshall (2017).
Global stardom came with Marvel’s Black Panther, where his portrayal of King T’Challa became a cultural milestone. Introduced in Captain America: Civil War (2016), Boseman went on to lead Black Panther (2018) before appearing in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). His final appearance as T’Challa came through archival footage in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022).
His last works include 21 Bridges (2020), where he also served as producer, and the 2020 films Da 5 Bloods and Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, both released posthumously to critical acclaim.
