A wave of bomb threat emails sent to multiple educational institutions across Delhi triggered widespread panic on Monday morning, forcing emergency evacuations and large-scale security operations. Authorities confirmed that at least nine schools received threatening messages within a short time span, prompting swift action from police, fire services, and specialised bomb disposal teams.
The schools targeted included institutions located in Delhi Cantonment, Rohini, Srinivaspuri, New Friends Colony, Sadiq Nagar, INA, and New Rajinder Nagar. After receiving alerts between approximately 8:30 am and 9:00 am, school administrations immediately contacted authorities. Students and staff were safely moved out of classrooms as precautionary measures while security personnel began detailed searches of the premises.
Officials stated that emergency response teams were deployed without delay to ensure safety and prevent any potential risk. Initial investigations suggest that the threats were delivered through email, containing alarming language and references to extremist messages. Security agencies are currently analysing the content and digital trail of the messages to identify those responsible.
The incident comes amid a growing pattern of bomb threat hoaxes affecting schools and public locations in major metropolitan areas. Over the past few weeks, several institutions in the national capital have faced similar disruptions, placing additional pressure on emergency services and causing concern among parents, educators, and local communities. Earlier incidents involving educational institutions and a court complex were later declared false alarms after thorough inspections found no explosives.
Law enforcement authorities emphasised that every threat is treated with the highest level of seriousness regardless of previous hoaxes. Security checks, including building sweeps and perimeter inspections, are being conducted to ensure that campuses remain safe before students are allowed to return. Officials also urged the public to remain calm and rely only on verified information, warning against the spread of rumours on social media platforms.
Investigators are working to trace the origin of the emails and determine whether the threats are linked to a coordinated attempt to create panic. Cybercrime units have joined the probe, analysing digital footprints and communication channels used to send the messages. Authorities reiterated that individuals found responsible for issuing hoax threats could face strict legal consequences under Indian law.
Education administrators across the city have expressed concern about the repeated disruptions caused by such incidents, which not only affect academic schedules but also create anxiety among students and families. Security agencies have assured that preventive measures are being strengthened to respond quickly to any future threats and maintain public safety.
As searches continue and investigations progress, officials remain focused on ensuring that educational institutions operate in a secure environment while addressing the challenges posed by recurring hoax alerts in the capital.
