The University of Delhi (DU) has recorded a strong response to its Undergraduate (UG) Admissions 2026, with more than 66,000 candidates accepting their allotted seats within 24 hours of the release of the first allocation list under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS).

According to admission data released by the university, 66,251 candidates had accepted their allotted seats by Friday following the publication of the first allocation list for the 2026-27 academic session.

Over 93,000 Seats Allocated in First Round

Delhi University released the first CSAS allocation list on July 16, offering seats to 93,033 candidates across 221 undergraduate programmes in 67 colleges.

The allocations were made against over 71,000 available UG seats, with the university allocating additional seats based on historical admission trends.

Among those allocated seats:

  • 42,019 male candidates
  • 51,014 female candidates

The university reported an overall allocation rate of 86.1% in the first round.

Admission Process So Far

The university shared the following admission figures:

  • 2,18,284 candidates completed registration on the CSAS portal.
  • 2,08,043 candidates completed Phase 2 by submitting programme and college preferences.
  • 66,251 candidates accepted their allotted seats.
  • 6,826 applications reached the "Approved by Principal" stage.
  • 896 candidates completed admission by paying the required fees.

First Preference Allotments

Delhi University said 5,141 candidates secured admission in their first-choice programme and college during the initial allocation round.

The university considered over 1.59 crore unique programme-college preferences while preparing the first merit list.

Special Category Admissions

The first allocation round also included admissions under special categories.

Seat allotments included:

  • 1,243 Single Girl Child candidates.
  • 242 Orphan candidates, comprising:
    • 109 male applicants.
    • 133 female applicants.

These admissions were made under the university's applicable reservation and supernumerary provisions.

Candidates allotted seats in the first round can accept their allocation until 11:59 pm on July 18.

After acceptance:

  • Colleges will verify and approve applications.
  • Candidates must pay the admission fee within the prescribed deadline.
