18 Terrorists, 3 Civilians Killed in Balochistan Blast and Pakistan Security Operation

A premature explosion involving an explosives-laden vehicle and a subsequent security operation in Pakistan's Balochistan province left 18 suspected terrorists and three civilians dead, according to Pakistan's military.

The incidents occurred in Surab district, where authorities said militants were preparing an explosive-filled vehicle before it detonated unexpectedly. The blast was followed by a joint clearance operation by security forces and the Balochistan Police targeting militants attempting to flee the area.

Premature explosion triggers security operation

According to Pakistan's military, the vehicle exploded while explosives were being prepared, killing eight suspected militants at the site. The explosion also triggered secondary blasts from additional explosives stored nearby.

Three civilians living close to the blast site were also killed in the explosion.

Following the incident, security personnel launched a coordinated operation to search the area and pursue those involved.

Security forces kill 10 more suspected militants

During the clearance operation, security forces said they intercepted militants attempting to escape and engaged them in an exchange of fire.

The operation resulted in the deaths of 10 additional suspected terrorists, taking the total number of militants killed in the two linked incidents to 18.

Pakistan's military also reported that two soldiers were injured during the operation.

Search operations continue in Surab

Authorities said sanitisation and search operations remain underway to ensure no militants remain in the area and to identify those connected to the alleged militant network.

The military reiterated its commitment to continuing counter-terrorism operations across the country, particularly in regions affected by insurgent violence.

Balochistan remains a security hotspot

Balochistan has witnessed repeated militant attacks targeting security personnel and government infrastructure in recent years.

The latest operation comes weeks after armed attackers allegedly kidnapped and killed 27 policemen following an assault on a police checkpoint at the Mangi Dam pumping station in Ziarat, prompting intensified security operations across the province.

The back-to-back incidents highlight the continuing security challenges facing Pakistan in its southwestern province.
