DUSU Elections 2026: NSUI Alleges ABVP Tore Campaign Posters, Student Group Denies Charge

Campaigning for the Delhi University Students' Union elections has intensified, with the National Students' Union of India alleging that activists associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad tore down its campaign posters.

The controversy comes ahead of the DUSU elections scheduled for September 18, while the counting of votes and declaration of results are expected on September 19.

The allegation emerged after a video circulated on social media showing several students removing campaign posters. NSUI claimed that the students seen in the video were associated with ABVP.

However, the identities and political affiliations of the students shown in the video could not be independently verified.

NSUI said its signature campaign had been gaining support among students and alleged that its campaign material was removed after the initiative started receiving attention.

ABVP rejected the allegations and released a separate video responding to the controversy. The student organisation accused NSUI of making false allegations instead of focusing on the election campaign.

An ABVP Delhi office-bearer also questioned NSUI's position on defacement and asked whether the organisation intended to follow the guidelines applicable to campaigning during the Delhi University Students' Union elections.

The ABVP argued that if printed campaign material is permitted, the rules governing its use should apply equally to all student organisations contesting the elections.

The exchange has added to political tensions on the Delhi University campus as campaigning enters its final phase.

The DUSU election is expected to witness an intense contest among major student organisations, with campaign activities continuing across the university ahead of polling on September 18.

The latest dispute centres on allegations surrounding campaign posters and adherence to election-related rules. While NSUI has accused ABVP activists of removing its posters, ABVP has denied involvement and maintained that the allegations are false.

With both sides continuing to trade accusations, the poster controversy has become another flashpoint in the run-up to the DUSU elections.
