Hockey World Cup 2026: India Schedule, Squads, Match Timings and Live Streaming Details

The 2026 Hockey World Cup is set to begin with India's men's and women's teams aiming to end decades-long title droughts and make a strong impact on the global stage. With a revamped tournament format and challenging group-stage fixtures, both teams face a crucial campaign as they chase World Cup glory.

The Indian men's team last won the Hockey World Cup in 1975, while the women's team is still searching for its first World Cup title after finishing fourth in the inaugural edition in 1974.

India men's team placed in challenging Group D

India's men's team has been drawn in Group D alongside Pakistan, England and Wales. The group promises high-intensity contests, particularly the much-anticipated clash against arch-rivals Pakistan.

The Indian women's team is also placed in Pool D, where they will take on China, South Africa and England.

New Hockey World Cup 2026 format explained

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) has introduced a major format change for the 2026 edition by removing the quarter-finals.

Instead, the top two teams from each group will advance to Phase 2, while the remaining teams will compete in separate classification groups.

During Phase 2, teams will play three additional matches against opponents from other pools. Results against teams already faced in the group stage will be carried forward, and the combined standings will determine the semi-finalists and final rankings.

The new structure increases the importance of every group-stage match, making early victories crucial.
