India Weather Forecast September 5, 2026: Heavy Rain Alert for Delhi, Rajasthan and MP

Monsoon activity is expected to remain strong across several parts of India on Saturday, September 5, with heavy to very heavy rainfall likely in isolated areas of northwest and central India.

Weather conditions are being influenced by a well-marked low-pressure area over central parts of northern Madhya Pradesh and adjoining southern Uttar Pradesh. The system is expected to remain nearly stationary for the next two days, while the monsoon trough continues to extend across northern and central India.

East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh are likely to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places on September 5. Heavy rain is also expected in isolated parts of East Madhya Pradesh.

The latest forecast comes after several areas in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh received significant rainfall. During the 24 hours ending at 8:30 am on September 4, isolated places in East Rajasthan and East Madhya Pradesh recorded heavy to very heavy rainfall. Orchha in Madhya Pradesh's Niwari district recorded 17 cm of rainfall, while Khandar in Rajasthan's Sawai Madhopur district received 13 cm.

Rainfall activity is expected to remain fairly widespread to widespread over West Madhya Pradesh through September 6, while East Madhya Pradesh may continue receiving widespread rainfall through September 8.

Heavy showers are also likely to affect parts of northern India. On September 5, isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Punjab, West Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Rainfall is likely to remain fairly widespread across Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during the day, while West Uttar Pradesh may continue witnessing widespread rain through September 6. Uttarakhand is expected to receive widespread rainfall over the coming days, with wet weather likely to continue through September 10.

Bihar and several northeastern states are also expected to experience heavy rainfall at isolated locations. Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura may witness continued monsoon activity.

Southern India is also likely to see unstable weather conditions. Isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of around 40-50 kmph, with gusts reaching up to 60 kmph, are expected over parts of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on September 5.

Interior Karnataka may also experience thunderstorms along with gusty winds.

The active monsoon spell is expected to gradually weaken across some parts of northwest India after September 5. However, rainfall activity is likely to continue across several parts of central, eastern and northeastern India in the following days.
