Maar Raha Hoon, Record Call: Delhi Police SWAT Commando’s Husband Threatened Brother Before Murder

A chilling phone call made minutes before her death has emerged as a key piece of evidence in the murder of Delhi Police SWAT commando Kajal, allegedly killed by her husband Ankur over dowry-related harassment while she was four months pregnant.

According to Kajal’s family, the crime unfolded on the night of January 22 at the couple’s residence in Mohan Garden, Delhi. Kajal’s brother Nikhil, a Delhi Police constable, told investigators that he received a call from Ankur shortly before the fatal assault.

“He told me, ‘Is call ko recording pe rakh, police evidence me kaam aayega. Main maar raha hoon teri behen ko. Police mera kuch nahi kar payegi’,” Nikhil said, recalling the threat. Roughly five minutes later, another call followed, during which he heard Kajal screaming in the background. Ankur then allegedly said, “Wo mar gayi hai. Hospital aajao.”

By the time the family and police reached the house, Kajal had been rushed to hospital in a critical condition. She was first admitted to a local facility in Mohan Garden and later shifted to a private hospital in Ghaziabad, where she succumbed to her injuries on January 27.

Police officials stated that the 27-year-old SWAT commando was brutally assaulted during a domestic dispute. Preliminary findings suggest her head was smashed against a door frame and she was struck with a dumbbell. Bloodstains were reportedly found on the door frame and the suspected weapon during forensic examination.

Kajal’s parents have alleged prolonged dowry harassment, claiming that despite a love marriage and substantial wedding expenses, the demands never stopped. Her mother said the family spent nearly Rs 20 lakh on the wedding and also provided expensive gifts, including a motorcycle. She alleged that Ankur continued demanding a car, which Kajal eventually bought using her own money.

“He used to say the police couldn’t touch him,” Kajal’s mother alleged, adding that her daughter’s jewellery was missing when they reached the hospital.

Delhi Police have registered a case of murder against Ankur. He has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues.
