The Mookuthi Amman 2 trailer introduces Nayanthara in a dual role as a Goddess and a timid police officer who must confront mythical villains threatening innocent people. Released by the makers on Wednesday, the trailer promises a mix of mythology, fantasy, humour and action, with the actor returning to the divine character she played in the 2020 original.
Directed by Sundar C, the sequel follows a police officer whose fearful nature contrasts sharply with the supernatural battles she faces. The trailer shows her getting frightened by seemingly ordinary situations, including sleeping alone. However, when Mookuthi Amman is invoked, she transforms into a force ready to confront the demons.
The visuals also hint at the scale and spectacle associated with Sundar C's filmmaking.
Regina Cassandra and Duniya Vijay Play Mythical Villains
The trailer introduces Regina Cassandra and Duniya Vijay as mythical antagonists who descend on Earth with destructive intentions. Their arrival threatens the world, putting children and other innocent people in danger.
As the threat escalates, Nayanthara's two characters become central to the conflict, setting up a story that blends divine intervention with action and comedy.
The sequel marks a change behind the camera, with Sundar C taking over the director's role from RJ Balaji, who directed and starred in the first instalment. Balaji has denied being involved in the second film.
